Introducing a powerful additive / subtractive synthesizer, image synthesizer as well as audio resynthesizer, Harmor.

Additive / subtractive

Just like its little brother Harmless, Harmor is driven by a powerful additive synthesis engine. Its modules will look familiar to subtractive synthesizer enthusiasts: oscillators, filters & phasers, these are featured in Harmor but, because performed through additive synthesis, offer more freedom. You don’t just select filter types, you draw them.

You wanted more, so also featured is the multipoint envelope editor of Sytrus fame, applied to over 40 parameters, in 2 independent parts. Through the same envelope/mappings, randomize any parameter or link it to key or velocity, and even fine-tune each unison voice independently.

Processing units can be rearranged in a semi-modular way. If you need one of the 2 filter units processed after the blur unit, that’s no problem.

Image synthesis

Because it typically requires manipulating large amounts (up to 500 per voice) of partials over time, additive synthesis is hard to handle. No human can (or even wants to) edit 500 envelopes, but editing 2D images, that we can do easily. Get access to gain & pitch planes which you can tweak in the image editor of your choice, and import any bitmap, even if it wasn’t designed to be turned into audio, it might still sound interesting.

Audio resynthesis

Being an additive synthesizer, Harmor can resynthesize audio files as well. The reproduction will be faithful, not a vague sound-alike as in many additive synthesizers. Resynthesis can of course be tweaked, providing time stretching, pitch shifting, or less conventional manipulations of partials. And of course, the result of the analysis can still be turned into an image for further editing.

Efficient

Additive synthesis is generally very CPU-consuming, but not Harmor’s engine. Its efficency is in fact, comparable to that of subtractive synthesizers. Voices may be generating hundreds of harmonics in parallel and still not overload the CPU. Processing being multi-threaded, extra CPU cores come in handy.

System requirements

2Ghz AMD or Intel Pentium 3 compatible CPU with full SSE1 support
512Mb RAM.
30Mb free disc space.
DirectSound or ASIO compatible soundcard.

Pixels!

Resynthesis or image-synthesis, Harmor features both. Import a piece of audio and time-stretch or pitch-shift it (with formant and transient preservation). Convert this to an image and edit each partial individually!

Two parts

Two independent parts (or “layers”) for even more complex sounds. Parts can be imported from other presets.

SFX

In the effects section you will meet all the usual suspects: distortion, chorus, delay and reverb, as well as the mighty Soundgoodizer based on the Maximus engine. Just like processing units, effect slots can be re-ordered.
Each part has its own effect mix amount.

Looks pretty

If you don’t understand it, visualize what it’s doing, best way to learn! Watch how each partial evolves in the built-in spectrogram, a picture is worth a thousand words.

The Drumaxx percussion modelling instrument gives you total control over 16 physically modelled drum pads that can be routed to independent outputs for external effects processing.

More than just drum samples.

Great, but why should you care when the internet is awash with drum samples?

In two words, expressive control.

Once a drum sound is recorded, the performance and modulation options are limited to filtering, volume, or similar 1-dimensional effects.

When a single drum sample is triggered in a roll, you get the familiar ‘machine-gun’ effect and it just sounds mechanical. Multi-sampled, multi-layered drums can overcome this limitation but need multi-megabyte or even Gigabyte! drum libraries. Even then, you are still limited to the sounds originally recorded.

Modelling algorithms for better sounds

Drumaxx is not based on samples or even commonly used ‘synthesis’

techniques, where oscillators are mixed and the result is always ‘electronic’.
Drumaxx uses modelling algorithms to create bass drums, hi-hats, snares, realistic and electronic sounds too. But what about the traditional ‘Achilles’ heel’ of synthesis, cymbals? Drumaxx creates cymbals and metallic percussion also.

System requirements

PC:
Windows 7, Vista, XP (SP2) – (32 & 64 Bit)
2Ghz AMD or Intel Pentium 3 compatible CPU with full SSE1 support
512Mb RAM.
30Mb free disc space.
DirectSound or ASIO compatible soundcard.
Mac:
OSX v10.4 (Universal Binary)
G4 1.5 GHz or Intel Core Duo family.
512Mb RAM.
30Mb free disc space.
CoreAudio drivers.

Good physics stuff included

At the core of Drumaxx is a model where the vibrating membrane is represented as a mesh of interconnected points. Each point is given physical properties including mass, inertia, stiffness, damping, and all that good physics stuff. For the musician, this means
Drumaxx gives you control over multiple parameters such as material, thickness, tension and shape. More importantly, the parameters can be modulated in real-time as a function of velocity or external controls. The drum body is also under user control too, including body material, size, vibration damping, and shape. All this gives you multi-dimensional performance options, a Matrix of variables providing nearly infinite possibilities.

Key features:

16 Physically modelled drum pads
Multi-output for individual effects processing on each pad
Huge range of modelling possibilities covering sounds from cymbals to kettle-drums
Velocity modulation matrix for detailed expressiveness
Integrated Stepsequencer with trigger-key playback
Integrated effects
Single-pad version ‘Drumpad’ available for tight integration with FL Studio

Content:

130 drumkits
900 drum patches
200 drum patterns

Vocodex is simply one of the best sounding vocoders on the market today. Try the demo and hear why Vocodex is the last word in vocoding.

‘By your command’ and beyond

What is Vocoding? You have heard vocoding many times, even if you don’t know what it is. Vocoders are the classic robot voice from many sci-fi movies. Vocoders analyze the real-time frequency band activity of one sound, the Modulator, to control frequency band activity in another, the Carrier.

A vocoder consists of a series of narrow-band frequency gates that allow through only those frequencies from the Carrier that are detected in the Modulator source. So if a human voice is used to vocode a synthesizer chord, it will sound like the synthesizer is talking. Check the demo tracks above.

System requirements

Windows XP/Vista/7
2Ghz AMD or Intel Pentium 3 compatible CPU with full SSE1 support
512 Mb RAM
130 Mb disk space

Key features:

Speech enhancement contouring of noise or modulator pass-through.
Modulator noise reduction to reduce ambient noise bleeding through carrier.
Voice doubling and reverb capabilities.

Ever wanted to synthesize a sound but found it was impossible?
With Morphine, no sound is too painful to recreate.

Morphine is indeed a powerful pain killer!

A Small Revolution

Morphine is a powerful Additive Synthesizer with a logical, flexible architecture that allows you to create any sound. You can do this directly by adjusting harmonics manually or by taking any input sample and resynthesizing it into one of 4 independent voices.

Additive Synthesis has been considered one of the most desirable ways to emulate real instruments or to create new sounds. However, Additive Synthesis has proved both technically and conceptually difficult to implement, requiring expensive computational algorithms and hardware.

Morphine changes everything!

Morphine introduces a minor revolution to the world of Additive Synthesis. With low CPU usage algorithms that retain a warm sound without sacrificing articulation accuracy, and a flexible architecture,  Morphine moves instantly to the top of its class.

Inside Morphine

So what makes Morphine a revolution? We’ll tell you.

Morphine’s 128 harmonic oscillator engine is fully optimized for producing a high quality, warm sound, with ground shaking bass and crystal clear high frequencies.
Based on complex, full 32 bit mathematics, with no internal sampling to avoid interpolation noises so Morphine retains that ‘analog’ quality.

The oscillators are also optimized for fast amplitude and frequency modulation response for accurate tone reproduction.
The oscillator engine is not only thing that makes Morphine sound so great. With an infinite number of harmonic snapshots ‘per-spectrum’, and the ability to map a unique spectra for each note, you can generate a realistic and balanced sound over the entire keyboard range.

Additionally, the four generator sourcescan be morphed via the in-built mix/morph envelope or from an external MIDI controller. Combined with the four independent multipoint modulation envelopes, assignable to many internal parameters, you can achieve any sound, just like you imagined it.

As an ‘Easter-egg’ for the sound designers among you, Morphine provides unison and comb/pulse width filter modulation of the harmonics directly, adding even more motion to the sound.

System requirements

PC:
Windows 7, Vista, XP (SP2) – (32 & 64 Bit)
2Ghz AMD or Intel Pentium 3 compatible CPU with full SSE1 support
512Mb RAM.
100Mb free disc space.
DirectSound or ASIO compatible soundcard.
Mac:
OSX v10.4 (Universal Binary)
G4 1.5 GHz or Intel Core Duo family.
512Mb RAM.
100Mb free disc space.
CoreAudio drivers.

Resynthesis

Be inspired. Resynthesis allows you to capture a complete spectrum from any audio sample, for accurate emulation of real instruments, or as a starting point for something completely new, using the in-built editing tools. Unlike the resynthesis of other additive synthesizers, Morphine provides total control so the resynthesized sounds are as close to the original sample as possible.

Sonic Flavor

You’re a talented musician, full of great ideas, but you’re still skeptical, right? So, what sounds can Morphine really make? Anything!

Complex evolving pads, deep basses, acoustic instruments, synthetic leads and keyboards are all possible using the advanced resynthesis features and intuitive interface.
However, musical creativity doesn’t guarantee you care about making your own sounds from scratch. Good news here too, Morphine ships with 290 high-quality presets covering a vast range of music styles. But, you don’t have to take our word for it, download the demo and let your own ears be the judge.

Standalone

Next to the VSTi & AudioUnits version we have developed a bi-platform minihost that allows you to enjoy Morphine without using a sequencer or host. You can just start it as a standalone application and play it with your midi or PC keyboard.

Key features:

High quality sound engine optimized for low CPU usage and fast amplitude and frequency modulation response.
4 independent “Generators” per voice
Keyboard layering with 128 unique Keyboard Zones.
Unlimited number of harmonic “snapshots” (breakpoints) per spectrum.
Amplitude, Detune, Panning control for all harmonics.
